Known Unknown So Fresh, So Clean Riesling PetNat 2021
Known Unknown’s first wine was called Orange Emoji and this is kind of an evolution of that wine.
It is from the Esk Valley, just north of Napier and is a blend of three components: It is about 50% whole-bunch co-ferment of Pinot Gris and Chardonnay blended with pressings from the Chardonnay and Pinot Gris which we’re pressed off part-way through fermentation on the eve of the level 4 lockdown. It is waxy, aromatic with grippy tannins balanced by pure, fresh fruit and a hint of spice.
